Homemade Halloween Candy

As a kid it was a cardinal Trick-or-Treating rule to not eat any homemade or opened items. Which is a shame now because I love the idea of making my own Halloween candy. But who says you have to make it for the Trick-or-Treaters? Instead, be a hit in the office or at a party. Here's a few recipes for better-than-store-bought-candy. Although I've only attempted the peanut butter cups (my favorite) I hope to be indulging my sweet tooth in the next week, and maybe getting a stomachache or two.

Peanut Butter Cups - Carey Nershi
As I said, these little gems are my all time favorite. I nibble around the edge and pop the middle in last. For extra gluttony, make these in regular-sized wrappers.

Almond Joy - Kristin Rosenau
Guess what? You can make Mounds too with this recipe! Hint: Leave out the almonds.

Cow Tails - Heather Baird
These were another favorite of mine because not a lot of people liked them, which meant I could easily trade for them. I'd slice them open to get to the super sweet creme then roll up the caramel separately.

Twix - Kristin Rosenau
Two for me, none for you? When you make your own you can not share as many as you'd like.

Tootsie Rolls - Heather Baird
Let's be honest, these chocolaty nuggets were the last to go among all the Halloween loot. But as an adult I have more respect for their single serving sweetness.
