When I was in the pet store looking for new treats I saw a stack of pumpkin puree for doggies. I read the label and it's meant to be good for their digestion. The ingredients read: organic pumpkin puree. Hmmm, why would I pay extra for this can because there is a cute dog on the front? I went home and baked these with the canned pumpkin I had, for humans. These are easy enough to make for the baking impaired, like myself.
Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats
2 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour
1/2 cup of pumpkin puree
2 eggs
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix it all together to make a firm dough. Add water or flour depending on the texture of dough. Dust the ball with flour so it doesn't stick when you roll it out to a 1/2 inch disc. Use a cookie cutter or just cut it up with a pizza cutter. Pop these into a preheated oven of 350 and bake for 40 minutes. They actually smell really good, good enough that Chris tried them.
The verdict is in, the little man loves them! This batch made enough to last a month, so I'd say it's definitely worth it to continue to make in the future. Dante approves this post, and says...
